URUGUAY 1-1 GHANA (URUGUAY WIN 4-2 ON PENS)

Just found a piece of scrap paper in a dusty folder underneath a bookshelf. On it, in a dim and distant past, I had written:

Steve Wilson - Steve Pemberton - "most busiest" - Mexico

By way of translation: I believe that the BBC's 4th choice World Cup TV commentator (Mowbray / Pearce / Motson ahead of him?) had described Mexico as the "most busiest" team in the tournament... at some point. Presumably before they were eliminated. This clearly annoyed me. Or perhaps it amused me. I can't remember.

Steve Wilson also looks like Steve Pemberton:

As for Uruguay versus Ghana - if my memory serves me correctly, this match continued my feeling of being slightly out of kilter with the rest of the world. Why did NOBODY want Uruguay to win? I did.

But then, what would I know? I only watched the first half, before enjoying Mesrine: Killer Instinct on DVD.

Later that night, I watched the highlights.

Mesrine was better.

THE STORY SO FAR

Match of the tournament: Slovakia 3-2 Italy

Player of the tournament: Diego Forlan (Uruguay)

Goal of the tournament: Tevez (Argentina v Mexico) - [2nd goal]
