HOLLAND 2-1 BRAZIL

Aaaaaaah - stretch - yawn!

What a lovely long sleep I've just had. Now then, where was I? Where have we got to with all this World Cup nonsense -

OH MY GOD!!!

End scene.

Sometimes life just takes over, but for what it's worth: I did continue to watch the remaining games of the 2010 World Cup... with the possible exception of this one.

If my memory serves me correctly, I was swimming in an outdoor pool while Holland were dumping Brazil out in the first quarter final.

As the last of the snow melts, the very thought of swimming outside in England seems positively ludicrous.

Much like picking up the pieces of a World Cup 2010 blog when all anybody is talking about are the ones in 2018 and 2022.

So much has changed since my fingers last hit these keys. For one: nobody likes Wayne Rooney anymore. Not even United fans.

This ruins my idea of creating a series of football songs, based on James Bond theme tunes, hailing England players past and present.

My list so far:

"Wayne Rooney" sung to the theme of 'Goldfinger'
and
"Darius Vassell" in 'From Russia With Love'.

Go on - give it a try:

THE STORY SO FAR

Match of the tournament: Slovakia 3-2 Italy

Player of the tournament: David Villa (Spain)

Goal of the tournament: Tevez (Argentina v Mexico) - [2nd goal]
